Change an LPG Cylinder
Forklifts are powered by various sources. They can run using LP gas or liquid propane, gasoline, diesel or battery. LP is a clean burning fuel preferred for various applications. There are some facilities that have large liquid propane supplies on site. This allows forklifts to be refueled anytime they need. In other places, the facility would have spare LP cylinders which can be changed out when the machinery must be refueled.
When changing out an LP cylinder, you should really be careful in order to avoid possible serious injuries. Like for example: be sure to wear the appropriate safety equipment like heavy gloves, safety glasses or goggles. Make sure that you turned off the forklift ignition prior to changing out the tank. Then, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is closed firmly. Use your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Remember that it would turn in the opposite direction of a normal connection and never use any kind of wrench or a metal tool on these connections. They are meant to be tightened by hand only.
