The forklift is a material handling machine utilized to lift and transport loads from one place to another. Every forklift part has a particular function. Various parts can be utilized to move the load either vertically or horizontally.
Mast
The parts utilized to lower and lift the load is referred to as the forklift mast. There are different kinds of masts utilized for raising loads to various heights: simplex, duplex, triplex and quad.
Power Supply
Forklifts have four various ways of being powered: gas, electric, propane and diesel. The battery is situated within the cab underneath the seat. The propane tank is on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on diesel and gas forklifts is beneath the back of the truck.
Cab
Positioned in the middle of the truck is the forklift cab. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the informational gauges and controls. The gas pedal, steering wheel, lifting controls, tilting controls and brake are all located in the cab.
Frame
Carrying all the biggest forklift components is the frame of the truck. This consists of the counterweights located at the rear that prevents the truck from tipping over when loaded. The frame consists of the overhead guard that protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the driveshaft, axles and wheels.
