What is the Difference between Pneumatic Tire and Cushion Tire?
One of the most popular questions regarding this type of equipment is determining the difference between cushion tire forklifts and pneumatic tire forklifts. Each kind of tire is specially ideal for various requirements.
Pneumatic Tires have air inside of them, like tires on a vehicle. These tires are ideal for indoor usage but they are more useful on uneven and gravel surfaces and in outdoor "yard" applications.
Utilized mostly for indoor operations, the cushion tires are made just like a solid industrial tire. The tire would only be useful outdoors on asphalt surfaces. If you do drive cushion tires outside, there is an option to get traction tires on the front of the machinery. These are called the drive tires. The back tires or the steer tires are specifically made for steering. Traction tires situated on the forklift's rear would simply wear out quicker. Hence, if you do have to work outside, having the smooth tires on the back and traction on the front will be the most economical and safest way to operate.
What is the distinction between Air Pneumatic and Solid Pneumatic tires?
It can be fairly tricky when trying to determine the main difference between the two tire types. They would work well in both in gravel and asphalt conditions. The main distinction between the two types of tires is solid pneumatics are made of solid rubber. This means they are durable and you cannot pop, gouge and puncture them. These tires are more costly than air pneumatic tires because they are made up of way more rubber. These tires are best suited for locations such as lumber yards and scrap yards where there may be lots of sharp things and debris on the ground.
Air pneumatic tires could be punctured accidentally. When this occurs, you can get flat tires from them. Before operating a forklift with air pneumatic tires, be sure that the yard is free of debris, sharp metals and nails and by checking your work space. In most applications, standard air pneumatic tires work really great.
