Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescopic booms are large industrial machinery designed with a straight boom arm which is extendable. The boom is usually situated on a rotating turntable. The telescoping boom lifts are normally used for jobs which need tasks to be done at heights that exceed other types of lifts. For example, workers can carry out exterior repairs or renovations on buildings of medium height but utilizing these lifts instead of having the additional work of setting up a pulley system or an outside elevator.
The bucket of the boom lift generally only holds one employee. These buckets are better suitable to particular jobs like electrical repair, as opposed to window washing or general maintenance. These lifts are available with both indoor and outdoor tires and come in gas or electric configurations.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces below the work platform. These braces squeeze together in order to push the platform straight up. As these kinds of units must be positioned directly under the work site, compared to boom lifts, these units are way more limited in their use.
Scissor lifts do, however, offer bigger platforms which allow the operator controlling the lift to access a larger work surface once the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of an issue with these types of machines, since they have to sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are ideal for being used for cladding or window installation, as they provide the personnel with the desired mobility; they are also a great alternative for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
The cherry picker or boom truck refers to the utility vehicle usually used to raise personnel for various tasks performed at heights. Usually, these kinds of trucks have a cab. It is here where the operator sits and operates the machinery. There is a bucket for where the worker could stand in addition to a winch for carrying and an actuator arm for raising the boom.
Cherry pickers could lift employees up to heights that were previously inaccessible. The cranes function is to lift both heavy supplies and equipment for one place to another. There are different types of cranes which could carry out a variety of purposes. Both of these different types of machinery excel at different jobs and are great for specific applications and finishing particular tasks.
